Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Robotics is a registered non-profit organization, created in 2017. This community group was created specifically to address an immediate need for an open and inclusive place for the region’s youth to engage and learn about science, technology, engineering, and math by building and competing with robots.
One of the primary programs we run is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, called the 2702 Rebels. This team was originally created in 2008 as an extra-curricular program at Eastwood Collegiate Institute in Kitchener, Ontario. The team has since grown into an open and inclusive community organization, welcoming students from the entire region, without restriction on gender, religion, race, or socioeconomic background.
Our mission is to inspire a unique array of knowledge, creativity and pride from our experience on a highly respected team. Our program inspires students to pursue careers in the fields of engineering, science, technology, math, and business. This program not only creates future abilities but also instills important life values such as teamwork, goal setting, and confidence. Our mentors work alongside the students ensuring success in a healthy learning environment especially throughout the crunch of the fourteen week build and competition season. As important members of the team, mentors guide students through technical, electrical, programming, design, and business struggles.
None of what makes this team great would be attainable without the help of our sponsors, dedicated mentors, inspiring students, and supportive parents. Thanks to everyone who makes our team possible!
